Buzzord Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-24
Legal provider: Buzzord
Buzzord is designed to operate without an account, advertising, analytics, or a server.
Live listening
Buzzord accesses the microphone only after the user starts listening. Background Listening is off by default. If the user explicitly enables it in Settings before starting a session, that fully started session may continue while another app is visible or the iPhone is locked. iOS shows its microphone indicator and battery use increases. Enabling the preference does not start or restart a session. Audio samples are held briefly in device memory for the live frequency visualization and on-device speech recognition, then discarded as they are consumed.
Buzzord does not create or retain a full listening-session recording. Recognized text is not displayed, saved, included in accessibility output, or uploaded. The user can stop through Stop Listening. Leaving the Listening destination stops the session. Audio interruptions, route changes, permission changes, media-services failures, termination, and other system conditions never leave capture running invisibly. Audio interruptions and effective microphone changes pause the same user-started session; Buzzord resumes it when the interruption ends or a usable microphone is available. If iOS resets its audio services, Buzzord waits for the user to tap Resume Listening before rebuilding the audio runtime. Stop Listening, leaving the Listening destination, termination, and terminal failures remain final. A stopped session remains stopped until the user explicitly starts another one.
Optional match history
Match History is off by default and requires explicit activation in Settings. When enabled, Buzzord may copy only the short audio range that the on-device detector accepted as a configured phrase. Each entry contains the local phrase identifier, timestamp, duration, file size, and a protected audio clip. It does not contain a saved transcript. Match clips remain in the app's private container on the iPhone and may be included in the user's device backup according to iOS backup settings. Buzzord never uploads or collects them. They have a hard aggregate limit of 250 MB. Reaching the limit stops new match clips from being saved; Buzzord does not silently evict existing clips.
Deleting a phrase deletes all match clips for that phrase. Resetting a phrase's count deletes its match clips even when the displayed count is already zero. Resetting all counts, clearing the phrase list, or turning Match History off deletes all saved match clips. A deletion failure leaves the associated app state unchanged and reports failure rather than falsely claiming deletion.
Information stored on the device
Buzzord stores the configured phrase list, counts, selected recognition language, detection sensitivity, Match History preference, Background Listening preference, and alert configuration in the app's private container. The app may also store one custom alert clip of up to three seconds when the user deliberately records and accepts it. The user can replace or delete that clip. Optional match clips are stored only as described above.
Uninstalling the app removes its private local container subject to normal iOS backup and device-management behavior.
Network and third parties
Buzzord contains no networking feature, account system, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or third-party software package. It uses Apple frameworks provided by iOS for audio, on-device speech recognition, haptics, and optional speech synthesis. Apple controls installation and availability of on-device speech model assets.
Data collection and tracking
Buzzord does not collect any data and does not track users. It collects no audio, phrases, counts, app-usage events, analytics, telemetry, identifiers, diagnostics, or other user data. It has no remote recipient to which app content could be sent.
